I have had so much going on lately, I don't even know where to begin. I'd really take a few extra hours in the day just now.
Last week I had so much work that I was often still at it at 10pm, having got up at 6.30 to start...that seems to be continuing this week, on top of that I have my first ever paid photo thingy tonight, the local church is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this week (50 years since it was built, I think). There's going to be a big service with bishops and whatnot, and the choir from Leeds Cathedral. It's a big thing and they've entrusted the pic-taking to me. I'm scared rigid, what if I mess up? Afterwards there's some sort of social gathering at a nearby golf club and I have to go and take pics there too...I'm dreading that mostly, social gatherings full of strangers, gahh. Mat advised me to spend lots of time fiddling with my camera and looking busy...I think I'll be taking that advice. I have to take pics of another part of the celebration on Friday evening, though that'll be a lot more low-key. So there's all that...plus Alex's birthday in a few weeks (that's not too hard to handle, I've ordered most of his presents online, all I need now is gift wrap and a card), then he breaks up for the summer vacation at the end of July and is off until September...it's going to be interesting trying to keep him occupied while I try and work at the same time, I need the money so it's not like I can just stop. I feel frazzled :(
 | congratulations of the paid photo thingy! that's fantastic. :) i'm sure once you get set up and start taking photos, you'll be fine. you are a wonderful photographer and i'm sure they'll love what you come up with. :) |
 | Tally, as I told you before, I have no doubt you will be GREAT at the photo thingy. I think Mat's advice is sound - go with that :) It will be challenging to keep little A occupied with all the work you've had lately, but just think - he'll have new birthday pressies to keep him happy !! Hope things smooth out for you soon, hon. Still crossing my fingers furiously :) |
 | Wow! Paid photo thingies! You lucky thingy. Don't worry I'm sure you'll be fine.
It's still infuriating when reality creeps into your life, isn't it? Cyber worlds are much more controllable |
 | Thank you, Kerry, Holly and Doug...it's really sweet to hear that. I've never had a ton of confidence in my abilities (well, except my Scrabble skills :P), I see a world of talented people out there and don't really feel like I can measure up. It was really fun to go somewhere and feel like a "proper" photographer, I had a tripod and everything :D (admittedly, it was lent to me). It's funny watching people react to a camera too, I'm so used to Alex hamming it up for me, I forgot that the majority of people don't want their pics taken. They were all scurrying past me :P Anyway, it went well. I think. They wanted a film of it, so I filmed it and am going to take stills from that (my camera does really good stills from video), and just took a few pics of the archbishop patting young children on the head/smiling warmly at old ladies type of thing. But I'm too zonked to o anything with them now, a nap and warm bath are calling, I've been on my feet for 2 1/2 solid hours, standing still. Sore feet! |
 | You have shared many of your fantastic photos with us, I have no doubt you've done a wonderful job!
I do hope you find some time to relax soon!
|
 | I know that you have talent as a photog........dont let the pressure get to you, and remember the big rule..take many pics.....easier if you are using electronic media..LOL the more images you snap you better odds of getting the most fantastic shots...........goodluck. |
 | paid photo thingys? You've moved up in the world! I'm positive you will do fine, you are a great photographer! Remember: TONS of photos! The more you take, the more good ones you get! hehehe! |
 | Thanks all, and I definitely am following the advice to take loads ;) Your supprt and kind words are really sweet, thank you :) |
 | Good luck to you on your first paid photographic assignment. The quality of your photography is alway top notch, so I think you have nothing to worry about. |
 | Cheers Mitch :) It went well, pretty nerve-wracking but overall, I'm pleased. The pics will eventually endup on the church website and the local paper (they couldn't spare anyone to send over but said if we provided pics, they'd do an article) and stuff like that. I'm covering the fayre on Sunday as well (I've been taking pics there every year for free, but whatever, I'm not arguing :P). That one is always fun. |
 | Yay... I'm glad it went well !!
