The BBC played this yesterday on the Breakfast News, hailing it as a remarkable discovery. Flying penguins. Alex and I were captivated. They told us this morning it was an elaborate April Fool's Day joke. :(
Nice one Beeb!! Love it when big organisations join in the April Fool's fun. My ISP (virgin.net) , on their news page, published a great article titled "US Treasury to scrap Dollar in favour of Euro". The funniest bit was in the comments....some people actually believed it!!! LOL.
lolol Mitch, I can totally imagine people falling for that one. That's awesome. Mags, the BBC are kind of known for doing this. They did one many years ago that persuaded a lot of people that spaghetti grew on trees. :P

Steph, I'm the same way, completely. It just doesn't occur to me that I'm being tricked.
Mags, it would seem obvious to you :p But this was either the back end or the 70's or early 80's here, and pasta I guess wasn't that popular here yet? I'll have to see if I can find the clip.
Spy Man had this posted on his blog yesterday and I totally knew it had to be an April Fool's Joke. But they did an awesome job with it---it was really believable! Gotta love the BBC for having a sense of humor like that.
But yeah....the math doesn't add up penquins....flying.....nahhhhh......
I even missed that it was a Pythonite doing the presenting!
Amazing what they can do with computers nowadays. I was watching the response on the breakfast news this morning, apparently they had a ton of emails grumbling about taxpayers money being spent on sending people to the antarctic to make a joke (we have to pay a TV licence fee here). So they showed how it was done, all on a blue screen with the antarctic background added in later, and computer animated penguins...so clever.

Don't people have better things to grumble about? geez......
